1. Courthouse Marker

Inscription. The Hermosa Beach Police and Volunteer Fire Station, Jail, and Courthouse were built here in 1916. The city hall and the Marshal's office were moved here from the head of Pier Avenue as well. Stories maintain that the jail cells were built outside and had no ceilings, allowing passersby to come right up and speak with prisoners through the bars facing Hermosa Avenue.
