1. The Charter House Marker
Inscription. Site of a cornfield where the first sale of building lots in Media was held September 17, 1849. The Charter House Association erected a temperance hotel in 1851 and it became a famous summer resort. Local elections were held here and Media Borough Council selected the hotel as its first permanent meeting site in August 1851. The original building remains in use as an apartment house.
