The Licking County Recreational Trail System. . Led by J. Gilbert Reese, The Thomas J. Evans Foundation completed the first segment of trail in 1980 linking Newark to Granville. The second segment linking Granville to Johnstown was completed by the foundation in 1981. Since then numerous groups have contributed to the creation of the more than 60 miles of trails we have today. Local municipalities and park districts are responsible for maintaining the existing trails and developing new segments. The trails provide opportunities for biking, walking, rollerblading, jogging and observing nature.
