1. Hot Air Balloon Launch Marker
Inscription. A large enthusiastic crowd gathered on the northwest corner of the Public Square to witness the launching of a hot air balloon on May 3, 1877. Professor Samuel A. King and Dr. A.O. Ford piloted the balloon, which landed near Sparta.
