1. William Howard Thompson Marker
Inscription. Patrolman Bill Thompson of the Salem Police Department was slain in the line of duty while assisting fellow officers. He was fatally shot during the apprehension of a barricaded suspect. Thompson Memorial Drive is named in honor of Patrolman Thompson's service and ultimate sacrifice.
