This is where the Fords' boathouse stood for many years, jutting out over the cove. Edsel enjoyed boating of all types, and he owned an impressive collection of boats. An avid sailor his entire life, Edsel raced speedboats competitively as a young man.

On summer mornings, Edsel would sometimes walk from the Main Residence down the driveway to this spot. He'd climb on board one of his motorboats, making his way across the lake and down the Detroit and Rouge rivers to his office at the Ford factory. The estate staff and their children used the boathouse for a different purpose: fishing.

Erected by Ford House.
