Snell-Dodds Block
— Red Deer Historical Walking Tour —
In 1928, Dr. Dodds and Dr. Snell purchased the Greene Block at the corner. That year, they built the first addition onto it, and the classic arched windows of this brick structure are evident in the building in front of you. Dr. Dodds, a dentist, and Dr. Snell, an optometrist, operated their practices out of the two buildings for many years. The growth of Red Deer required increasing health care services so, after World War II, Dennis Snell built the second brick addition to your left.
In 2013, owners Terry and Angela Balgobin completed an extensive five-year project, restoring the two brick buildings of the Snell-Dodds Block.
Erected by City of Red Deer.
