1. Tract of the City of Alliance Marker
Inscription. In 1915 the city of Alliance, Ohio enlarged its water supply source by purchasing land and damming streams in Knox Twp., Columbiana County, at Westville, Ohio. The waters of the new Westville Reservoir would inundate the private Westville Colored Cemetery, on the west side of Westville Rd., Est. by Virginia Quaker Micajah 33 and Unity 25 Coppock Stanley. The first burial was Gilbert Benjamin Hair, d. 20 Jul 1844, age 5m 18d. The last burial was Sarah Towns d. 29 Aug 1911, age 22. The City of Alliance purchased this tract in Damascus Cemetery for the reinternment of the freed slaves and their kin. The 1938 Damascus Cemetery blueprint reads: Colored cemetery which was moved from Westville.

Marker can be reached from Valley Road (County Highway 405) 0.1 miles south of Walnut Street, on the left when traveling south. This marker is a brass plaque on a flat stone tablet located next to the Ohio History Connection marker
