1. Fulton Country Club Marker
Inscription. In 1916, forty Fulton businessmen decided to create a country club. They purchased forty acres near town from the estate of Mrs. Elkanah Smith. Renovations, which were supervised by General M.F. Bell, transformed the Smith farmhouse, originally built in 1840, into the present clubhouse. Thomas Aitken, a well-known St. Louis sportsman, designed the nine-hole golf course.
