Born in Pennington, Ark on Jan. 4, 1937 to John and Itha Lewis. A legend in his time to those who knew him, Joe was a member of the Twitty Bird Band, of which he gave twenty years of service, bringing joy to the hearts of millions of people who loved the sound of country music.
Joe was the author of several hit songs of which can be heard through out his great land of ours.
Joe was not only loved by many people, but he had an astounding love for people, this being one of the characteristic that made him a giant of a man.
On April 15, 1976, Joe's life came to an abrupt end as the results of an automobile crash.
Yet, this has not silenced the instrument or the melody singing of this great man. Truly, his works shall follow in the hearts of American people.
