Inscription. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. came to Nashville within days of the bombing of the Looby home, and the subsequent march on City Hall. He spoke to a capacity crowd at Fisk University and told them that the Nashville sit-ins were the best organized and most disciplined in the southland. During the speech, Dr. King was quoted as saying, "I came to Nashville not to bring inspiration, but to gain inspiration from the great movement that has taken place in this community."
