Garver Feed & Supply Company
Theodore Hapke; Law, Law and Potter, Architects
— 1906; Altered 1929 —
This Romanesque style building was constructed by the U.S. Sugar Co. and used for beet sugar processing until 1924. The building was significantly altered under ownership of James Garver but retained characteristics of the style, particularly the arched window and door openings that define the first floor. The Garver Feed and Supply Company is significant to the history of local agricultural industry and commerce, specifically the livestock feed industry. Its innovative approach to the formulation of specialty mixed feed for livestock was based on a scientific understanding of nutritional needs.
