Inscription. In loving memory of Henry Remsen Hankinson born August 22 1843 at Manahawkin N.J. Died June 27 1866 at Pensacola Florida. He served his country through the Civil War during two enlistments in the United States Navy from November 6 1860 to March 8 1864 and from September 20 1864 until his death. He is buried in the National Cemetery at Fort Barancas Florida where his grave is marked by a headstone sent by his mother in 1866.
 
Erected 1928 by his sister Julia M. Platt.
