Inscription. Gettysburg • Mission Ridge • Shiloh • Corinth • Antietam

Erected in memory of the soldiers of Washington Co. Ohio, who lost their lives in the U.S. service in the war for the suppression of the rebellion of 1861.

Washington County was represented in the following and many other organizations - 36th, 39th, 63rd, 77th, 87th, 92nd, and 148 Ohio Infantry; 1st, 7th and 9th O. and 2nd Va. Cavalry; and 1st Ohio and 1st W.Va. Light Artillery.
