Petrus Josephus Mattheus Aalberse (1871-1948)

Hij was een Nederlands rooms-katholiek politicus en socioloog. Van 1918 tot 1922 was hij de eerste minister van Arbeid in Nederland in het eerste kabinet Ruys de Beerenbrouck. In het tweede kabinet Ruys de Beerenbrouck was hij minister van Arbeid, Nijverheid en Handel van 1922 tot 1925. Onder zijn bewind kwam de Arbeidswet (1919) tot stand, die de arbeidsduur van werknemers regelde. In 1920 werd hij de eerste voorzitter van de Hoge Raad van Arbeid, de voorloper van de Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER).

Piet Aalberse was a Dutch Roman Catholic politician and sociologist. He was the first Minister of Labor from 1918 to 1922 in the first cabinet of Ruys de Beerenbrouck. In Beerenbrouck’s second cabinet, he was Minister of Labour, Industry and Trade, from 1922 to 1925. Among his achievements was the Labor Act (1919) that regulated the length of the employee workday. In 1920 he became the first President of the Supreme Court of Labour, the forerunner of the Social and Economic Council (SER).

General League of Roman Catholic Caucuses (ABRK) later the Roman Catholic State Party (RKSP) and later co-founder of the Catholic People's Party (KVP) now merged into the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party and jurist. He was granted the honorary title of Minister of State on 31 December 1934.
