1. Davant Residence Marker
Inscription.  Built originally for Miss Mary Arrington of Rocky Mount, NC, this residence is the long- time home of Dr. & Mrs. Charles Davant, Jr. In 1948, Mayor Grover Robbins, Sr. recruited “Doctor Charlie” to establish a much-needed medical practice in Blowing Rock. The home boasts interior walls of knotty pine and a fireplace of Grandfather Mountain granite.

In recognition of this property's significance, this marker is placed by the
Blowing Rock Historical Society and the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum.

Regarding Davant Residence. Dr. Davant was instrumental in the creation of Blowing Rock Hospital in 1951. He practiced in Blowing Rock for more than 50 years before his death in 2003. His wife, Harriet, was one of the first women to earn a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1944. She was extremely active in the Blowing Rock community, and was the Blowing Rock Community Foundation's 2016 “Woman of the Year.” She died in 2020.
