Inscription. Until recently 1000 watt bulbs were used in most first-order Fresnel lenses. The light produced by the 1000 watt bulb combined with the magnification power of the Fresnel lens, can be seen for over 20 miles at sea and can be measured in hundreds of thousands of candle power. A second bulb is in place as a back-up bulb.
