Inscription. The Catoctin Mountain Range is the eastern most mountain range of the Blue Ridge Mountains - a part of the Appalachian Mountain Range. The geological structure of the mountain primarily consists of metabasaltic greenstone with rock samples that date back to the Paleozoic era.
