Inscription. Many of the financial resources needed for the creation of the Arboretum came from the generous support of the Tom and Kitty Foundation (TKF) in Annapolis, which provided a great deal of the infrastructure. The TKF has supported the creation of many gardens in the mid-Atlantic region, providing them with their own iconic and ergonomic TKF bench (made of recycled Douglas fir) and other distinctive features, such as labyrinths. Their motto is "open spaces, sacred places," placing emphasis on the spiritual nature of gardens. We are deeply grateful to the TKF for their generosity and support, without which the Arboretum would not exist as it does today.
