Regarding Griffith Park Pony Rides. The pony rides closed on December 21, 2022, because a small group of protesters said the ponies should not suffer the abuse of having to carry small children on their backs.
The City of Los Angeles did not renew the lease.
Efforts to re-open the Pony Rides are continuing.
In 2009, Griffith Park was designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 942, in part because of the historic Pony Rides.
