Col. John Logan, Wounded. Advanced in line of battle April 6, 1862, through this field to the timber, then fell back to this position and engaged the enemy from about 9.30 to 11.30 a.m., when it moved to the left and rear of the 41st Illinois. The regiment lost in the battle 3 officers and 36 men killed; 6 officers and 108 men wounded; 5 men missing; total, 158.

Looking to the left of the regiment's line. The cannons represent those of Mann's Missouri Battery. Beyond them is a monument for the 28th Illinois. William's Brigade held this sector of the Peach Orchard through the mid-day phase of the fighting.
