Jackson Street M.B. Church
Jackson Street Missionary Baptist Church was organized in April 1898 and chartered in May 1899 by Rev. A. A. Hamilton and members of the State Golden Rule Hall. Completed in 1908, the Gothic Revival building was designed and built by E. J. Allein, an African American from Pennsylvania. At the time, it was the largest church designed and built by African Americans in Mississippi. The congregation included many prominent members of Vicksburg's African American community in the early 20th Century.
