Inscription.
This statue commemorates the historic occasion on June 21, 1964 when former University of Notre Dame President Fr. Hesburgh stood arm in arm with Civil Rights Leader Dr. King and called for racial justice at Soldier Field in Chicago. The statue invites you to join hands with Fr. Hesburgh and Dr. King and symbolically participate in the ongoing struggle for equality.
