1. The Alumni Anchor Marker

Inscription. This historic three ton anchor was donated to the college in 1969, by the Alumni Association. The anchor came from the V.H. Ketcham, a wooden iron ore freighter, the first vessel operated by Pickings Mather & Co. It was a pioneer, being the first ship on the lakes with both steam and sails. Built in 1874, it sank after burning on Whitefish Bay in 1905.
