During the 1775-1778 Revolutionary War, little attention was paid to setting up gravestones because stonecutters & quarrymen were in the military.
Gravestones were placed after 1783 testify to the ardent patriotism and heroic actions of the many men of the 3d Presbyterian Church who served in the war.
