Inscription.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, city folk rode the train out to Wedderburn, a popular summer resort and fairground. In later years the rail stop served commuters.

This three-sided shelter (below) was typical of many small stop along W&OD. There was a station or shelter about every three miles.

The speed of the W&OD trains averaged 40 to 45 miles per hour, but there were many stops along the way. Crewmen often had to jump on and off moving trains at road crossings to halt traffic with flags or lanterns. And, despite regulations, conductors often made unscheduled stops for regular riders.
