1. Blanding's Turtle Marker
Inscription.
These handsome turtles have distinctive yellow markings on their chins and throats. Their carpace (upper shell) and lower shells bear yellow speckles as well. Once common throughout New England, they are now rare and listed as a species of greatest conservation need in Massachusetts.

Animal Facts
Shy Blanding's turtles dive to the bottom of a pond if startled.

You can often find young Blanding's turtles on logs basking in the sun.

These turtles are omnivorous. The can catch live fish!

Conservation Status
Endangered

High risk of extinction in the wild.
