Milo A. Rediger (1913-1988) served as president of Taylor University from 1965-1975 and again from 1979-1981, and was the driving force behind Taylor becoming accredited institutionally in 1947. During his years in leadership, he oversaw ten new campus buildings as enrollment at the University tripled.

Raised on a family farm and educated in one room country schoolhouses, Dr. Rediger benefitted from his Amish and Mennonite roots, and learned from an early age to be a diligent worker, to be economical, to appreciate learning, to care for family, and to love and serve God. Dr. Rediger joined the Taylor faculty in 1943.

His many honors and avenues of notable service include helping to establish the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, service on the board of Marion General Hospital and the Grant County United Way, his tenure on the Board of Elders of the Evangelical Mennonite Conference, presidency of Prison Fellowship's Indiana Task Force, and being appointed a "Sagamore of the Wabash" by Governor Otis R. Bowen for "unselfish dedication and service to fellow Hoosiers."

Dr. Rediger and his wife Velma lived much of their lives and raised their two sons, Nelson and Wesley, in Upland. In 1979 he stated to the Town of Upland that, "we have always wanted to be good citizens of our community" and pledged that

the University would work diligently on "activities and actions that will bring us even closer together."

Dr. Rediger ably represented a legacy of deep connection and cooperation between Taylor University and Upland that began well before him; it is one that he championed whole-heartedly; and it is one that continues today.
