Close to the mainland, Peddocks Island is one of the largest and most diverse islands in the harbor—featuring historic structures, hiking trails, campsites, unique geologic features, sweeping gravel beaches, and great views of the harbor.

Hike around Peddocks Island which has been home to Native Americans, militiamen, prisoners of war, farmers, fishermen, and summer vacationers. Stay overnight at the only island campsites with running water. Watch for wildlife.

[Captions:]
Hundreds of voices, and even the sound of a grand piano, filled the barracks of Fort Andrews where soldiers trained during World War I.

On August 12, 1908, the Sweet Summer Dream Hotel hosted a day of baseball, including prominent members of the sporting press.

Historic Fort Andrews is being transformed to help visitors enjoy and learn about nature and history on Peddocks Island.

Scenic trails on Peddocks Island offer shade and retreat from everyday life.

Thousands of soldiers and Italian prisoners-of-war worshipped in the Fort Andrews World War II-era chapel.

Birdwatchers delight in spotting the Snowy Egret, one of 13 species of coastal birds nesting on the islands.
