Inscription. Jackie Joyner-Kersee was born in East St. Louis, Illinois and attended UCLA. In 1986, she became the first woman to earn more than 7,000 points in the heptathlon and now holds the world record with 7,291. She has won 5 Olympic medals (3 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) and is regarded as the best all-around female athlete.
