Inscription.
These climbing rose supports are the original piping and standard fittings installed in 1932, with the exception of the horizontal cables.

Around the perimeter of this garden, climbing roses are featured. Their vigorous growth and long canes make them perfect for training over a trellis, fence or arch, even though tree branches or weeping over a wall. Supports should be sturdy so they do not need to be replaced over the life of the rose. Supports in this garden were installed by labor funded by the Public Works Administration, a Depression-era grants program designed to provide jobs for the unemployed.
