Inscription.
It is not certain when this building was erected, but it was most likely built around 1880. During the past century, it has served a wide variety of businesses. One of the most notable was "La Chapelle Sisters" Millinery Emporium which opened in 1910.

The sisters, who came from Detroit, were both milliners of experience and their operations were of the latest designs and patterns. They offered the ladies of Greater Boyne a shopping class equal to similar stores found in large cities.

Prior to 1900, this location served as the law office of J. M. "Mac" Harris. After 1900, it was known as Ed Thurston's Boarding House. Later, after the millinery shop, it became the home of Findlay's Photography Studio and then Kerry's Radio and Electric. In the early 1920's, Hazel Olsen operated a second hand store and in the late 1920's it became Lamkin Dry Cleaners. It remained a dry cleaners store until the mid 1940's. For a short time, in the 1940's, the building housed a tailor's shop.

The building stood vacant for several years until the early 1950's when Florida Bowman (the daughter of Frank Kaden, an early pioneer merchant) purchased the building and opened a gift shop called "The Coffee Mill".
