Inscription. This portion of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail is named for The Honorable Thomas J. Murphy, Jr. the 57th Mayor of Pittsburgh.
Mayor Murphy's vision for our public riverfronts led to the construction of this park, the expansion of our riverfront trails, and the construction of our sports venues. The popular Water Steps were a tribute to his son T.J. and all the children of Pittsburgh.
