• Got nickname as a hard-throwing American Legion pitcher, as a teenager
• 1962 Daytona Champion
• Eight career victories at Daytona International Speedway
• One of NASCAR’s first superstars
• 33 victories and 32 poles in NASCAR’s premier series
• 2014 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee
