He was known to most people at Doc Woody. He established his private practice in Atlanta in 1952. He retired from his practice on Aug. 31, 1999. He was named Physician of the year by the Macon Area Chamber of Commerce in 1985, was selected in 1991 by President George Bush as the 487th Point of Light, and was invited as a guest aboard "Air Force One" on Jan. 12, 1992. "Doc" served eight years with the Civilian Conservation Corps, during the depression. He served his country during WW II, as a medic in the United States Army.
