stone monuments can be found at the Roman wall near the Dom, the cathedral. The remains of the martyr and Augsburg saint Afra were entombed in a Roman sarcophagus which can be viewed in the lower church of the St. Ulrich and Afra Basilica. Augsburg of the Renaissance reveals many traces of its Roman history. The figures on the Augustus, Mercury and Hercules fountains represent Augustus Caesar and Roman divinity. In the stairwell of the city hall 14 busts of Roman emperors are displayed, and in the Golden Hall of the city hall there are nine Roman emperors portrayed on the wall frescoes. In the Archaeological Garden on Außeres Pfaffengässchen ancient construction is documented by means of display boards, designated floor plans and a layered system structure. Plants which were imported by the Romans over the Alps are shown in the "Roman Garden" of the Augsburg Botanical Garden.
