1. The Northerner 1871 - 1892 Marker
Inscription. Built in Marine City as a Barge by John J. Hill. Rebuilt & Rig changed to Propeller in Detroit in 1880. Caught fire at Kelly's Island, Ohio in November, 1886. Rebuilt in Cleveland, Ohio & registered in 1887. Burned on Lake Superior leaking oil cargo in 1892.
