1. "Albert Sidney Johnston House" Marker
Inscription. Childhood home of Civil War Confederate General Sidney Johnston. His death at the Battle of Shiloh (TN) was said to be a turning point of the war. The family of Civil War Union General William "Bull" Nelson resided here after the death of Johnston's father. The Johnston & Nelson families attended the Washington Presbyterian Church. Both men attended West Point and both fought at the Battle of Shiloh.

3. Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston (1803-1862)
He was shot – possibly from one of his own men — behind his right knee while leading a charge. The minie ball nicked an artery, and he died from blood loss before a surgeon could reach him on the battlefield.
