Greenbelt in Prince George's County, Maryland — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Life Onboard
Food, water, clothing, waste management items and other equipment were packed into bays along the walls. The cabin was pressurized to about 5 pounds per square inch - about the same pressure as the summit of Mount Everest - and the temperature was controlled at about 75°F. The pressurization and controlled temperature enabled astronauts to spend much of their time out of their suits, though they wore them during critical phases, such as launch, entry, docking and crew transfer.
