Year of the Gorilla
The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) has declared 2009 the International Year of the Gorilla. The severity of the problems threatening gorillas are so serious that WAZA has initiated this major awareness campaign, focusing on education and fund raising to support gorilla field conservation projects.
A Plan to Help Gorillas
The 2008 Agreement on the Conservation of Gorillas and their Habitats is a unique international plan to consolidate all gorilla conservation efforts. It focuses on high-priority projects for the long-term survival of gorillas, their habitats and neighboring peoples.

Community development projects in areas bordering protected areas for gorillas

MISSING MARKER! Like all of the markers in the Jungle of the Apes section, this marker has been removed from the site pictured. It is not known if it was moved elsewhere but a tour through the whole section revealed 4 markers that are nowhere in public sight.
