1. Morrill Hall Marker

Inscription. Built in 1898, Morrill Hall is named for Senator Justin Morrill who introduced legislation (in 1861) leading to the creation of a system of land grant colleges, of which the University of Maryland is a member. The building survived a devastating fire in 1912 which destroyed adjacent structures. Morrill Hall remains the oldest academic building in continuous use.
