Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, Missouri — The American Midwest (Upper Plains)
Spink Pavilion

Flora Gate, as it was originally known, was constructed by Henry Shaw in 1858 (thus the external inscription), one year prior to the Garden's public opening in 1859. As the original entrance, it served to align the Garden's axis, which gives rise to the "Central Axis" between the Climatron® and the Gate.
In 1919 - 1920, the Flora Gate underwent a major renovation and rebuilding. When the Ridgway Visitor Center opened in 1982, Flora Gate was no longer needed. The open loggia was fully enclosed with a custom, traditionally detailed wood and glass storefront system to create a banquet hall for special events.
Today, Spink Pavilion is one of the Garden's premier historic facilities available for events and private receptions. During the recent renovation, 92 percent of the construction materials were diverted from the landfill by being recycled or repurposed which contributed to the building's earning LEED certification in 2012.
