1. Honoring a Legend Marker
Inscription. This piece highlights Carl Linnaeus's history and work in taxonomy. The shoulders of the statue are in the form of a linden tree, Linnaeus's family tree. The design on the back of the head represents the layout of the Linnaeus Garden at Uppsala, Sweden. Etched on the base are Linnaea borealis, known as twin flowers. This bust was suggested to sculptor Paul Granlund by former Garden Director Dr. Peter Raven in 1987 and installed in 1989.
