Living Classrooms Foundation strengthens communities and inspires people to achieve their potential through hands-on education, job training, and wellness programs using urban, natural, and maritime resources as "living classrooms."

Since 1985, we have worked to make struggling neighborhoods in Baltimore and Washington, DC, safer, stronger, and healthier.

Our diverse programs are designed to disrupt the persistent cycle of generational poverty and provide the skills necessary for individuals to overcome barriers to success in school, work, and family.

The Pirate Ships and Chessie Paddleboats are employment venues where local youth and young adults learn valuable work and life skills through on-the-job training, using this experience to build both their resumes and future careers.
