Inscription. Donald M. Suggs was born in East Chicago, Indiana. He earned his B.S. and D.D.S. Degrees from Indiana University and did post-graduate work at Homer G. Phillips Hospital. He was the first African American oral surgeon to practice in St. Louis and the first African American president of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of St. Louis.
