1. Theora Hamblett Marker
Inscription. Artist Theora Hamblett, a lifelong resident of Lafayette County, was born in Paris, Mississippi in 1895. Known for paintings of colorful trees, childhood scenes, dreams and visions, much of her work was associated with her religious faith. Museums around the world feature her art, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The University of Mississippi Museum has the largest collection, most of which was left to the museum by Hamblett upon her death in 1977. She is buried in the nearby family cemetery.
