1. Diamond Fire Company Marker
Inscription. After initially meeting in 1893 in the George Roth Saloon, Diamond Fire Company was chartered in 1896. A barn on South Canal Street served as the company's first headquarters. After purchasing property at the corner of Main and Washington Streets, the fire company building was constructed in 1910. The lumber for the station was salvaged from the former Citizens Electric Company, which was located along the Lehigh River. In 1913 the building housed council chambers and a police lock up. Walnutport State Bank moved into a portion of the building in 1923 and remained there until 1977.
