Inscription. To the French patriots of 1768 who in revolt against the transfer of the province of Louisiana from France to Spain first voiced in America the principle of self-determination of nations.

In tribute to their tragic fate and to the principle which they invoked this tablet is dedicated by "Spirit of "76" and "New Orleans" Chapters Daughters of the American Revolution.
