L. Kohlerman, a local undertaker built this example of Italianate architecture c. 1875. In the 1860's and 1870's, the streets in Lawrenceburg were raised because of flooding from the Ohio River. The first floors of buildings were covered and street level entrances were now at the second story. Some buildings were raised. The original street level can be seen at the rear of this building.
