Regarding Mount Pleasant War Memorial. Description of memorial: The memorial is sited on a small traffic island in the center of an intersection and has suffered damage several times from automobile traffic. The sculpture surveyed is the third doughboy installed at this site. The original doughboy sculpture and base were dedicated Nov. 11, 1924. In 1968 the sculpture was toppled and broken into several pieces when it was struck by an automobile. The monument was replaced and rededicated Nov. 11, 1969. The sculpture was again replaced in 1980-1985 due to a traffic accident.. Sculptor is unknown.

2. Mount Pleasant War Memorial
figure of a World War I doughboy. He is dressed in military uniform including helmet. A 1903 Springfield is slung over his proper right shoulder; his proper right hand holds the strap of the gun. The white marble sculpture stands atop a round column and base of pink marble. The top of the column is decorated with a circle of stars and laurels. Overall approximate height is 21 feet.
